Client-centered HIV Prevention Project
Funded by the Centers for Disease Control, this project is intended to assist federally funded family planning agencies to improve their HIV-related services. The focus is on improving the abilities of staff to provide client-centered HIV services, including prevention education, counseling and testing.

East Bay AIDS Education and Training Center (AETC)
Core Grant July 2005 – June 2010;
Minority AIDS Initiative July 2005 – July 2008

The East Bay AETC is federally funded by Part F of the Ryan White Care Act (RWCA) to provide HIV/AIDS training and education to healthcare providers in the counties of Alameda, Contra Costa, and Solano. CHT’s programs include a monthly dinner training series, on-site trainings, mini-residency clinical trainings, an annual update conference, an annual summit on Perinatal HIV, and technical assistance. Our core budget cover all topics related to HIV treatment. Our MAI budget is to address specifically Perinatal HIV transmission issues. We are local performance site (LPS) for the Pacific AETC, a region of the nationwide network of AETC’s. This network of AETC’s funded by the RWCA since 1990 includes 11 regions, 130 LPS’s, 4 national centers and the International Education Center in HIV (ITEC). First 5 San Joaquin Organizational Capacity Training and Technical Assistance Project
July 2007 – June 2010
The Center for Health Training provides training and technical assistance to agencies in San Joaquin County, California, that have been funded by First 5 San Joaquin Children and Families Commission. First 5 SJC administers the county's funds from California's Proposition 10, the statewide tobacco tax that funds early childhood development, school readiness, and family support efforts. CHT is the training and technical assistance contractor with the First 5 SJC. Tangible results for contractors from work performed by CHT under this agreement will include: A) Improved organizational ability to achieve missions, goals, and day-to-day operations, programs, and service delivery; B) Improved governance, leadership, administration, program development and implementation, fiscal management, communication systems, evaluation, partnerships, and collaboration; and C) Increased leadership and professional staff development, advocacy, organizational skills, training, and knowledge exchange through coaching and mentoring. Infertility Prevention Project (IPP)
The IPP project involves facilitating a Public Health Service Region IX committee of STD Directors, Family Planning Grantees and Lab Directors to improve the screening and treatment of Chlamydia. A current effort is under way to assess the diverse and challenging needs of Chlamydia Test (CT) screening in the Pacific Basin, in conjunction with CDC and other partners serving that area. Integrating HIV and Other Prevention Services Into Reproductive Health
October 2005 – September 2009
This project provides training and technical assistance to family planning agencies in DHHS Region IX. The 5-year Cooperative Agreement is funded by the Centers for Disease Control to help Family Planning Agencies provide HIV services more effectively. CHT directs training and technical assistance to a “Model Clinic” and other clinics to explore the ingredients for successful HIV Services Integration into Family Planning agencies. The information gathered is being organized into an HIV Integration Toolkit and will be disseminated throughout the region after completion.

Supporting Implementation of HIV Rapid Testing in Labor and Delivery (RTLD)
May 2006 – April 2008
This project is funded by the California State Office of AIDS to build the capacity of hospitals in Northern California to provide HIV rapid testing in Labor and Delivery. There are three regions (East Bay, San Francisco, South Bay) utilizing a multi-disciplinary staff (including a doctor and nurse practitioner) to provide training and technical assistance to hospital staff.

Title X Training and Technical Assistance
July 2006 – June 2009
General Training involves providing workshops and conferences for staff in Title X funded family planning agencies in Arizona, Nevada, California, Hawaii, Guam, and the Pacific Basin. Sessions range from administrative topics (Customer Service) to clinical issues (Male Exams, Chlamydia Partner Management) to education/counseling (Pregnancy Counseling, HIV Counselor Training, and Sexual Health). Events are ½ to 3 days in length and audio conferences are provided annually. Three multi-day Reproductive Health Conferences are held annually—one in the Pacific, one in Arizona, and one in Hawaii. We also conduct the Family Planning Basics course which has rigorous competency testing. Technical Assistance is also provided on approval from the Regional Program Consultant (RPC), with the majority of the funds going to the Pacific Basin this year (2007).
