About This Training
Participants will learn about the latest issues in STD clinical management and the current Pap test screening recommendations. Nursing CEUs and CMEs were originally offered to participating callers.

By the end of this session participants will be able to:

  1. Describe two current treatment issues in STD clinical management.
  2. List two STD clinical management strategies to incorporate into your practice setting.
  3. List the criteria for when to start and when to stop Pap test screening.
  4. Explain the different approaches to Pap test frequency recommended by the American Cancer Society vs. ACOG and the USPSTF.

Intended Audience: Physicians, clinicians and nurses who are involved with reproductive health.

Trainers: Michael S. Policar, MD, MPH, is a widely known speaker with a particular interest in family planning, women’s health, and female genital tract infections and related cancer. Dr. Policar currently serves as Medical Director of the North Bay Healthcare Medical Group and is Chair of the Clinical Practice Committee of the California Family PACT Program. He has authored a number of chapters in medical textbooks, including Contraceptive Technology. Dr. Policar is also an Associate Clinical Professor of OB/GYN and Reproductive Sciences at the UCSF School of Medicine.

Gail Bolan, MD, Chief of the STD Control Branch of the California Department of Health Services, is currently serving as chair of the National Coalition of STD Directors, and is a member of the CDC HIV/STD Prevention Advisory Committee. She serves on several national, regional and State working groups, and has published extensively in the field of STD epidemiology and public health.
