Healthy Schools Summit: Closing the Achievement Gap by Serving the Whole Child

The Washington Health Foundation presents the second annual Healthy Schools Summit: Closing the Achievement Gap by Serving the Whole Child. Join us to learn how healthy schools can boost academic performance and close the achievement gap. The conference will be tailored to meet the needs of individuals with a variety of backgrounds and experiences.
Diane DeMuth Allensworth will be keynote. Small group sessions following the keynote will be led by professionals who have successfully created coordinated school health programs and have seen positive academic outcomes as a result. Sessions will focus on the skills, strategies and tools needed to make your school a healthier place.
Audience:
Superintendents, Directors, School Improvement Specialists, Principals and other school administrators, teachers, counselors, staff, food service, DECA, community members, students, school nurses and other health advocates/champions who work with schools.

Keynote Diane DeMuth Allensworth, PhD, RN

Division of Partnerships & Strategic Alliances, National Health Marketing Center
Dr. Allensworth has 30 years of experience in health and education and is a co-founder of the coordinated school health model. The guiding principle of coordinated school health is that health agencies, community institutions, families, and schools and communities work in partnership to create a seamless web of education and services that lowers the barriers to learning experienced by children. Dr. Allensworth currently focuses on the relationship between health and educational disparities, and working with schools to serve the whole child to reduce both.
