About the Workshops
Motivational Interviewing
(Thursday, May 15, 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.)
What is Motivational Interviewing (MI)? What
makes MI a unique approach in a family planning
and reproductive health setting? How do you
know if you really are demonstrating the Spirit of
MI when you are working with patients who are
engaging in risky behaviors? Does using MI save
time? These are some of the questions that will be
discussed during this 1-day, interactive and skillbased
workshop. The focus of this workshop will be
on working with clients who are engaging in risky
sexual behaviors. You will have time to practice MI
skills and discuss effective strategies.
Infertility Counseling
(Friday, May 16, 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.)
This morning session will include a review of the
Title X Guidelines for Level One infertility services
and the key infertility screening criteria for women
and men.
Cultural Competency: Serving GLBT Clients
(Friday, May 16, 1:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.)
During this afternoon session, you will have an
opportunity to meet individuals from our Gay,
Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender (GLBT)
community, examine your assumptions and
possible misunderstandings, and make plans to
serve the GLBT community with increased cultural
competence in your clinic or agency.
