In this training:
This workshop will emphasize non-reportable viral STIs information for clients and students. Topics will include STI trends, transmission, consequences and risk reduction, as well as a review of the California Education Code that applies to sexuality education.

By the end of this session, participants will enhance their ability to:

Describe the signs/symptoms, consequences of infection, and modes of transmission of the most common non-reportable viral STIs.
Describe prevention and risk reduction interventions.
Summarize STI trends in Orange County.
Utilize additional STI education resources for group presentations and/or client counseling.

Audience: Clinicians*, nurses, medical assistants, counselors and educators. (*Note: Clinicians may attend, but STI tests and treatments will not be discussed)

Trainer:
Paul Gibson, MS, MPH, is the Chief of the Health Promotion Unit for the STD Control Branch and has 17 years experience conducting the STD Overview for non-clinicians. He has worked in HIV/STD prevention and program development for over 22 years with a focus on the integration of innovative primary prevention and applied medical anthropology.

Fees: All fees are per person. Title X-funded agencies: $25; Private/Other funding: $45. CE units are an additional $30. A $10 late fee will be assessed for each registration received after the deadline. Fees can be refunded if cancellation is received 5 working days prior to the session.

Participants are responsible for their own meals, travel and lodging.

Deadline: Registrations must be received by Thursday, August 7, 2008.

Continuing Education: Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number 02604, for 5.2 contact hours.
