In this training:
It is crucial for family planning staff to be comfortable discussing sexual health issues with clients.This training will address how to discuss sexual issues and provide risk reduction counseling to clients at risk for HIV/STIs and pregnancy. Participants will develop and practice skills related to effective sexual risk assessments and conduct client-centered interventions.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

Demonstrate comfort in discussing sexual practices.
Demonstrate strategies to help clients identify their STI and pregnancy risks.
Describe how to assist clients in developing realistic action plans.

Audience: Clinicians, nurses, medical assistants, counselors.

Trainer:
Beatriz Reyes is a Training Coordinator for CHT and has extensive experience in pregnancy, HIV and substance abuse prevention. She has worked with both youth and adults from diverse backgrounds.

Fees: All fees are per person. Title X-funded agencies: $25; Private/Other funding: $45. CE units are an additional $30. A $10 late fee will be assessed for each registration received after the deadline. Fees can be refunded if cancellation is received 5 working days prior to the session.

Registration and fees may be sent separately. Confirmations will be mailed two weeks prior to the workshop and will include specific location, directions and other details. Participants are responsible for their own meals, travel and lodging.

Deadline: Registrations must be received by Monday, August 4, 2008.

Continuing Education: Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number 02604, for 6.6 contact hours.
