Infertility Prevention Project
The goal of this project is to reduce and control chlamydia through the collaborative efforts of STD, Family Planning, and Public Health laboratories within the region. Center for Health Training provides infrastructure support to the regional advisory committee. Region IX Infertility Prevention Project Chlamydia Clinical Guidelines UPDATED
These February 2009 Guidelines replace the 2003 and 1998 versions. The following topics are covered: laboratory services and testing; history, risk assessment and physical exam; clinical presentation and diagnosis; treatment; follow-up of positive chlamydia test results; reporting procedures; clinic staff education and training; patient/client education and counseling; partner identification and referral; partner assessment and treatment; and outreach activities. It includes as an appendix the Region IX Guidance and Toolkit for the Use of Expedited Partner Therapy and Retesting that is available separately below.

Region IX Guidance and Toolkit for the Use of Expedited Partner Therapy and Retesting at Three Months to Prevent and Detect Chlamydia and Gonorrhea Reinfections
This November 2008 document is intended to provide guidance for implementing policies for both expedited partner therapy (EPT) and retesting at 3 months after initial treatment for chlamydia or gonorrhea in Region IX IPP settings. The guidelines follow the CDC Dear Colleague letter of May 11, 2005, the CDC report Expedited Partner Therapy in the Management of Sexually Transmitted Diseases 2006, and the CDC 2006 STD Treatment Guidelines.

Region IX Guidelines for Gonorrhea Screening and Diagnositic Testing Among Women in Family Planning and Primary Care Settings
These September 2006 Guidelines address gonorrhea screening for women clients in clinical settings that provide reproductive health services, including family planning, primary care, and obstetrics/gynecology clinics. These guidelines do not address gonorrhea screening for clients in STD clinics, correctional institutions, or school-based settings. There is also an offsite link provided to download the state-specific guidelines for California provided by California DHS STD Control.
