By the end of this conference, participants will be able to:

  • list the complications of IUC placement and describe techniques to minimize them;
  • describe prophylactic measures to reduce the risk of breast cancer in high-risk populations;
  • identify strategies to increase and promote selfawareness in cross-cultural communication;
  • identify key components of organizational cultural proficiency.

Trainers

Anita L. Nelson, MD, is a Professor of OB-GYN at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA; Chief of Women’s Programs at Harbor-UCLA; a senior author of Contraceptive Technology and on the editorial boards of Contraception and The Female Patient.

Amanda Newstetter, MSW, is a Training Manager and staff trainer at the Center for Health Training in Oakland, CA. She has been providing training and technical assistance for over 20 years. She is passionate about integrating cultural proficiency into trainings and services for health care professionals.

Alfonso Carlo is a Project Director and staff trainer with the Center for Health Training in Austin, Texas and has worked with the Title X community for the past 18 years. He completed a two year internship and certification process with StirFry Seminars & Consulting, Inc., a nationally recognized firm specializing in diversity training.

Confirmation

Confirmations will be sent two weeks prior to the workshop and will include specific location, directions and other details. Participants are responsible for their own meals, travel and lodging. For more information regarding registration, call CHT at 510.835.3700.

Fees

All fees are per person.

  • Title X-funded agencies: $20;
  • Private/Other funding: $40.
  • CEs/CMEs are an additional $30.

A $10 late fee will be assessed for each registration received after the deadline. Fees can be refunded if cancellation is received 5 working days prior to the session.

Continuing Education

Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number 02604, for a maximum of 7.8 contact hours. To receive credit, nurses must attend the entire course and present their license number at the workshop. Center for Health Training is a CME accredited provider. Center for Health Training (CHT) designates this educational activity for a maximum of 6.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. This credit may also be applied to the CMA Certification in Continuing Medical Education. CHT is accredited by the Institute for Medical Quality/California Medical Association for issuing AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™ for physicians. CHT takes responsibility for the content, quality and scientific integrity of this CME activity. All other applicants will receive certificates of participation.
