The 39th annual reproductive health conference (RH 2010) for clinicians, community health educators, clinic and program managers, and other staff who work in family planning or other reproductive health care clinics/agencies will be held in beautiful and vibrant, downtown Bellevue, Washington, April 7–9 2010.

This 3-day conference will provide high quality continuing education (CNE and CME) and clinical updates that are evidence-based and focused on best practices. This conference (and pre-conferences on Tuesday, April 6th) will include clinical (with pharmacology), educational, and management sessions.

This annual northwest RH conference is known for its outstanding faculty and important updates on contraception, STD/HIV assessment and treatment, and a broad range of related clinical, education/counseling and administrative sessions. Participants find this conference an excellent opportunity to update their knowledge and skills as well as meet and network with colleagues from around our region and the country.

Cancellations must be in writing and mailed or sent via fax to the Center for Health Training before March 31, 2010. Refunds will be issued after the conference concludes (less a $30 processing fee). Please be advised that cancellations received after March 31 will not be refunded. Substitutions, however, will be honored.

Audience

The intended audience for RH 2010 includes licensed clinical providers such as nurse practitioners, physicians, physician assistants, certified nurse midwives, RNs, as well as community educators, clinical and program managers, and others who work in a reproductive health or related health care setting.

Course Objectives

At the end of this conference, participants will be able to:

  • Discuss up-to-date information about a variety of reproductive health clinical issues, including contraceptive options for women and men, management and treatment of STDs including herpes, maintaining vaginal health and STD/HIV prevention, and reproductive health and the environment.
  • Discuss clinical assessment, management, and treatment issues regarding dermatology, taking a sexual history, medications for substance abuse treatment and cervical cancer screening.
  • Describe strategies for providing effective counseling and education interventions in the following categories: effective behavior change interventions, addressing obesity, assessing patients for intimate partner violence and sexual coercion.
  • Identify management strategies in topics such as Title X national standards for core services, electronic technologies that can improve service delivery, and how to work respectfully in a challenging work environment.

CE Credit Information

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint sponsorship of the University of Cincinnati, the Seattle STD/HIV Prevention Training Center, and the Center for Health Training.

The University of Cincinnati is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The University of Cincinnati designates this educational activity for a maximum of 17 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.  Physicians should only claim credits commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

The University of Cincinnati is committed to resolving all conflicts of interest issues that could arise as a result of prospective faculty members significant relationships with drug or device manufacturer(s). The University of Cincinnati is committed to retaining only those speakers with financial interest that can be reconciled with the goals and educational integrity of the CME program.

The Center for Health Training is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Washington State Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. A maximum of 25.5 contact hours will be awarded for RH 2010 coursework, depending on attendance of one or more of the pre-conference workshops.

Pharmacology credits are offered throughout the conference to allow providers with prescriptive authority to gain the required number of annual pharmacology contact hours. Participants will be able to earn up to 10.5 pharmacology credits depending on which concurrent sessions are selected. Approved courses for Pharmacology credit are marked with a Rx symbol.

Successful completion of this continuing nursing education activity includes the following:

  • Attending the entire activity
  • Completing the CNE Sign In form
  • Submitting a completed evaluation form
